snow-ui Pro licence
What you may do with the snow-ui Pro source code once you have bought a licence, in plain English.
Last updated
The short version
- Use Pro in as many products as you like, commercial or not, your own or your clients’.
- Only the developers your licence covers work with the Pro source.
- Don’t share, resell or publish the source, and don’t use it to make a competing kit, template or component library.
- You get 12 months of updates. What you installed in that time is yours to keep using afterwards.
The short version helps you read the licence; the sections below are the licence.
1. Who this licence is between
This licence is between [seller’s legal name — to be added] (“we”, “us”) and the person or organisation that buys a snow-ui Pro licence (“you”). If you buy for an organisation, you confirm that you may accept this licence on its behalf, and “you” means that organisation.
2. Definitions
- Product
- The snow-ui Pro templates, blocks and other files we make available through the
@snow-ui-proregistry, in any version, and anything you derive from them. It doesn’t include the free snow-ui library (section 9). - End Product
- A website, application or other software that you or your client build and that uses the Product as part of its interface, and whose value doesn’t lie mainly in the Product itself.
- Seat
- One developer — an employee, a contractor or you — who works with the Product’s source code.
- Updates Period
- The 12 months after your purchase, or longer if we extend it in writing.
3. What you may do
Once you have paid, we grant you a worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable (except under section 8) licence to:
- use, copy and modify the Product;
- include it in an unlimited number of End Products, for yourself or for clients, commercial or not;
- distribute and sell those End Products, including in compiled or minified form, and let their users use them without a licence of their own.
For versions of the Product you obtain during the Updates Period, this licence doesn’t expire; it ends only as section 10 describes.
4. Seats
Your plan sets how many developers may work with the source:
- Individual: 1 developer.
- Team: up to 5 developers.
- Unlimited: unlimited developers who are your employees or contractors working on your projects.
You may move a seat from one developer to another, for example when someone leaves the team. People who only use an End Product, review it or deploy it don’t need a seat. A client who receives an End Product from you may maintain it with its own developers within that End Product; developing anything else with the Product needs their own licence.
5. What you may not do
- Redistribute, sell, sublicense or share the Product, or any part of it, on its own or modified — for example as files, a package, a template, a theme or in a registry.
- Use the Product to create or contribute to a product that competes with it: a UI kit, a template or theme, a component library, a page or site builder, or a tool that generates interfaces from it, where others can obtain the Product’s source or use it to build their own products.
- Publish the Product’s source code where people without a licence can access it, such as a public repository, a gist or a public package. If you want to open-source an End Product that includes it, ask us first; we may permit it in writing.
- Share your licence key outside the people your Seats cover, or use the registry in ways meant to get around the Seat count, the Updates Period or its rate limits.
- Remove or change the licence header at the top of the Product’s files.
- Use the Product for anything unlawful, or claim that you made it.
6. Updates
During the Updates Period your licence key gives access to the registry: new templates and blocks, and new versions of existing ones, as we release them. We don’t promise a schedule or a particular item, and we may change or retire items. After the Updates Period the registry refuses your key, but you may go on using every version you obtained under this licence. A new licence gives you a new Updates Period.
7. Licence keys
Your key is confidential. Keep it out of version control and other places others can read. If it may have leaked, tell us and we will replace it. We count downloads per key and may suspend a key that is clearly shared or abused, after telling you why.
8. Transfer
You may transfer your licence once, as a whole, to another person or organisation — for example when you sell the business or hand a project over for good — if you stop using the Product yourself and tell us in writing who receives it. The receiver accepts this licence; we issue them a new key and revoke yours. End Products you have already delivered are not affected.
9. The free snow-ui library
The Product uses snow-ui, which is licensed separately under the MIT licence. Nothing in this licence limits what that licence allows for snow-ui itself, including the snow-ui components the CLI installs alongside the Product.
10. When this licence ends
- If you break this licence, we may end it by telling you in writing. If the breach can be fixed and you fix it within 30 days of our notice, the licence continues.
- If you get a refund (see the refund policy), the licence ends on the day of the refund.
When the licence ends you must stop using the Product and remove it from the End Products you still develop. End Products you delivered to clients or users before it ended, while you complied with this licence, may go on being used by them.
11. Ownership
We (or our licensors) keep all rights in the Product that this licence doesn’t expressly give you. You own the rest of your End Products.
12. No warranty
The Product is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows. You are responsible for testing it in your End Products.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data, and our total liability under this licence is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in this licence limits liability that can’t be limited by law, or rights you have as a consumer that can’t be waived.
14. Changes to this licence
We may publish new versions of this licence for future purchases. The version in force when you bought applies to your purchase, unless you accept a later one.
15. Governing law
This licence is governed by the law of [country or state — to be added], without limiting the mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live.
